The most romantic day of the year is almost here! Have you decided which wine would you enjoy to celebrate with your better half? 

Candle lights, red roses, romantic music, food cooked with love… Whether you are planning to dine outdoors or organize a romantic dinner at home, wine is your best ally to set the mood during this special occasion.

We’ve prepared a mini guide for all the budgets to give you some inspiration with the best Italian wines to celebrate Valentine’s Day! So let us be your cupid for the choice of the right wine for this special day.

2. “Amorino” Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC

Main characteristics: Fresh, fruity and slightly spicy

“Amorino” was made by the famous Formula 1 pilot, Jarno Trulli who after his successful career, decided to go back to his homeland and become a winemaker. It is made from Montepulciano grapes vinified in rosé. It is a very versatile wine, it goes well with pasta, pizza, light roasts and seafood.

3. “PassioneSentimento” Veneto Rosso IGT

It is made with the appassimento technique which concentrates the aromas of the wine. “PassioneSentimento” is dedicated to the world’s most famous love story, Romeo and Juliet. In fact, the label of the wine is a picture of the original wall of Juliet’s house, where each year thousands of lovers from around the world leave letters to Juliet. It goes well with grilled red meat and matured cheese. 

4. “Vino della Rosa” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

Named after the natural rose attached to the bottle by hand, this artisanal Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is perhaps the wine with the most romantic packaging out there! The rose is set with a manual process on the bottle with a stamp wax. So why give roses for Valentine’s when you can give a wine with a rose? The perfect pairing will be lamb or ragout tagliatelle.

5. “Amore e Follia” Toscana Rosso IGT

With its deep ruby red colour, intensity and vigorous character this is the right wine if you are looking for a powerful full bodied red. It is made from the Primitivo grapes from their 90-year-old vines trained with the ancient alberello system, on the red lands of the Manduria countryside. They have a limited production of only 2000 bottles. Try it with spiced dishes or meat main courses.
