When Slow Life rhymes with adrenaline: the first restaurant with zipline experience is inside the most exclusive resort in the world
Imagine a “barefoot” luxury resort, located on a private island in the Maldives, within the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Imagine a place that gives guests the luxury of time, purity and solitude. A natural and sustainable paradise, created by Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, where you can discover SLOW LIFE every day, with the only real goal of reconnecting with yourself and with the nature that surrounds us, and be truly zero-impact. Add to this the adrenaline of the experience of 200 meters of zip line (editor’s note: the launch of the void hooked only to a rope) among the tops of the trees in the lush jungle, 10 meters above the ground. Mix everything with a cuisine of the highest level and of international importance. Flying Sauces promises to be the mix of all of this. An absolutely unique gastronomic experience, to be savored from an unusual perspective to admire breath-taking landscapes from an elevated platform, suspended between the forest and the wonderful beach of fine white sand, the true pride of the Baa Atoll. It is precisely from the platform at a height of 10 meters that chef Rasal Jayawardene offers strictly seasonal menus prepared in the extraordinary open kitchen. And so you can taste dishes like Hokkaido scallop carpaccio with crispy wild rice, celeriac in two ways with raisin sauce, Marinated shrimp with avocado puree, chorizo oil and rocket, Leeks with brie cheese sauce and crumble with rosemary, black cod with artichoke puree and teriyaki truffle sauce, paired with a selection of 9000 Soneva Fush wines: a real show cellar, from which to choose great French labels and famous Italian wines from iconic producers (Angelo Gaja in the lead ). Originally from Sri Lanka, chef Rasal started working in his brother’s restaurant at the age of 11. Trained with some of the best chefs in the world, Rasal has been with Soneva for over 10 years. In the course of his long experience at the exclusive Baa Starry White Resort, he has worked with more than 50 starred chefs, including – to name but a few – Tom Aikens, Tim Raue, Alberto Faccani, Rafael Gomez and Vicky Ratnani. The Flying Sauces zipline can be done at different times of the day, from breakfast, to high tea, to dinner. For the more daring and the most courageous, or for those who want to be carried away by the thrill of flying suspended on a rope, the Flying Sauces promises emotions for the eyes, for the heart and for the stomach. One more opportunity to appreciate the hospitality of this corner of paradise, where the guest is pampered in the name of sustainable luxury: it is worth remembering that the overall offer of the Soneva makes use of at least eight restaurant brands , from Maldivian cuisine to oriental, French up to the so-called international, vegetarian / vegan (the vegetables come from a luxuriant garden inside the atoll) up to Italian, present with the best Made in Italy raw materials.
